Established in 2006, The Upper Hand Spa Suites is a serene spa nestled at the foothills of Mt Helix, offering an array of transformative luxury services including pedicures, manicures, gel polish, facials, back treatments, full body treatments, and waxing. In 1987, Lisa embarked on her journey in the beauty industry as an esthetician/make-up artist. By 1990, she expanded her expertise by obtaining her Manicurist license. Together with her husband Hugh, she ventured to Chicago and neighboring Indiana, where The Upper Hand took root. However, it wasn't until 2002, when they returned home to San Diego that Lisa explored different salons, realizing her desire to cultivate a unique environment. In January 2006, her vision materialized with the establishment of The Upper Hand Spa Salon, a full-service booth rental salon in Jamul. Over the course of 15 remarkable years, countless cherished memories were created. Amidst the challenges brought by the initial Covid shutdown, there came a period of introspection and contemplation. Fueled by a determination to pursue her aspirations and guided by faith, Lisa made the bold decision to relocate the salon to La Mesa. Her dream and mission are simple yet profound: to provide a welcoming, nurturing spa environment where service, compassion, and empowerment reign supreme.
